I am a lover of good food, and when it comes to this, I always prefer Indian (Bharatiya) cuisine over any other. The reason is very simple. Not only does Indian non-vegetarian cuisine excel, but there is also an unlimited variety of vegetarian dishes.

I truly believe that Bharat (India) is the perfect place for vegans. They would undoubtedly relish the flavors they’ll experience. Indians are experts at creating healthy, exquisite meals. They have literally found a hack to live a healthy life with good food.

They do magic with their spices and make it the best. The addition of Indian influences to the cuisine of any other country makes it exceptionally delicious.

I recently ate a pizza which had an Indian touch to it. I mean it, I have never had such a thing. I love pizzas, and I definitely think that I would really prefer an Indian curry on my pizzas sometimes.

Here are TOP 5 Indian Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Food that I LOVE!

Vegetarian

1. Chhole Bhature

The main ingredients of this dish are, the fluffy bread made of Wheat Flour, and the gravy which contains chickpeas. The bread in this is called “Bhature” and the chickpeas are called “Chhole”.

The taste of chhole, oh my god. They are so well seasoned and the bhature (the fluffy bread) contains paneer (cheese) in it, making it even more tasty.

This is dish is like one of the signature dish of India (Bharat) and it originates from the northern part of Bharat, from a state called Punjab.

This is a complete vegan dish and it tastes amazing. The spice level of this dish is low, so the ones who think their mouth cannot take much spices, this dish is perfect for you.

2. Masala Dosa, Idli and Wada

3 beauties in one picture. These are three dishes and originate from the southern part of Bharat (India). These again are vegan dishes, and have finger licking taste.

Idli is made of rice. Now people will think it’s a rice cake. To that the answer is a big NO. It tastes a lot better than that. No offense to the rice cake lovers, but idli is actually the real G. And it is actually eaten with many chutneys which are of many different flavors. The coconut one is my favorite. It is also eaten with a type of lentil soup called Sambhar.

Dosa is a dish even when you look at it, it makes you wanna eat it right away. It’s a type of pancake or crepe, which has a thin, crispy, and savory taste made of fragmented batter. It contains well seasoned and cooked potatoes in it, which makes it a perfect dish for anytime of the day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is also eaten with Sambhar, and I actually recommend eating it with Sambhar.

Wada is deep-fried savory fritter made from a batter primarily consisting of urad dal (black gram lentils) and spices. I haven’t tried this much, and I don’t really remember the taste of it, but I do remember that my reaction to the taste was good. So I would really recommend this to everyone!

All of these south Indian (Bharatiya) dishes were vegan.

3. Pav Bhaji

My friends, this dish, is so good I don’t have words. This dish isn’t vegan as it contains butter in it. So for vegans, you can skip this one.

That’s a perfectly seasoned potato gravy called “Bhaji”, with well spiced bread called “Pav”.

When this dish is made, you squeeze a lemon over your gravy and dip your bread in this mouth watering potato gravy, and then eat it. I remember the taste when I ate it last. And I immediately fell in love with this one.

I swear you have to try this.

This dish originates from the western part of Bharat (India), from the state called Maharashtra.

Again, a must try dish!

4. Rajma Chawal

There are debates sometimes, about Rajma Chawal or Chhole Bhature should be on top. This dish is again from the northern part of Bharat, and has amazing taste. It’s made with many different spices and it contains its king ingredient called Rajma (large, dark red, kidney-shaped beans), making it a vegan dish.

It is eaten with a bread called Roti made with flour, and it is eaten with rice. It’s a GREAT dish and people should try this once.

5. Tawa Chaap With Rumali Roti

If vegans try this dish, they might become addicted to it. We all know that meat can be quite addictive, making it challenging for someone to quit once they start.

This dish, I believe, can be quite addictive for vegans. The texture of Chaap, the main ingredient in this dish, closely mimics the taste of meat, making it appealing even to non-meat eaters or those who eat meat occasionally. What’s particularly exciting for vegans is that this dish contains neither animal products nor dairy. It’s made from soy chunks, soya beans, all-purpose flour, water, and salt.

Chaap is a thing with which many dishes are made, and mostly all the dishes tastes exquisite and different. So it’s kind of like heaven to the vegans.

In the next part I am going to talk about my TOP 5 favorite Indian (Bharatiya) non-vegetarian food that I LOVE!!
