We all know that the highest peak on our planet is ‘Mount Everest,’ located in Kathmandu, Nepal, with an elevation of 8,849 meters.

As of January 2023, Mount Everest has been climbed by 6,338 people. Many of them have conquered this mountain more than once.

It’s a very famous destination, attracting around 30,000 visitors to Nepal every year who come to witness the majesty of Mount Everest.

However, there’s one mysterious mountain that most people are not aware of.

This mountain doesn’t share the same elevation as Mount Everest; in fact, it’s shorter, standing at an elevation of 6,714 meters.

That’s precisely 2,135 meters shorter than the highest peak, and yet, it remains unconquered.

This mountain has proven to be an exceptionally challenging climb, so much so that the country has restricted access to its summit.

Well, this is Kailash Parvat.

If you have read this far, you must be wondering what’s the reason that this mountain has never been climbed by anyone yet. EXCEPT one person, who is —

Kailash Parvat/Kangrinboqe Peak

Kailash Parvat; The name ‘Kailash’ holds a profound meaning: ‘The mountain of the one who bestows peace.’ In this context, ‘Kailash’ signifies the Hindu God Lord Shiva, known as ‘the one who bestows peace.’ The term ‘Parvat’ translates to ‘Mountain.’

According to Hindu holy books, Kailash Parvat is considered the divine abode of Lord Shiva. It is believed that the Originator of Meditation, Lord Shiva, meditates at the peak of this sacred mountain. This site holds immense significance for Hindus and has been frequently depicted in Hindu sculptures as one of the holiest places.

Kangrinboqe Peak; The name ‘Kangrinboqe’ carries a significant meaning in Tibetan, signifying ‘the holy mountain.’ This majestic peak holds immense importance for Buddhists, as it is considered a sacred and revered site in their faith.

Well, not only these two religions, but many more religions like Jains and Bonpos, hold great importance in their religion.

If we don’t include religion in this topic, and talk about science, the mountain is still a mystery for scientists. they still couldn’t understand the science behind this mountain.

And words said by the religious people for this mountain, make more sense!

— Location —

The mountain’s age is said to be between 21 to 26 million years and is located in Tibet (China), in the Himalayan Mountains.

One of the most interesting things about this mountain is, that the distance from Kailash Parvat to the North Pole is 6,666 kilometers away, and to the South Pole, it’s double, which is 13,332 kilometers.

Mount Kailash, went under the Chinese government when China captured Tibet in 1972.

Attempts to Conquer

Did people not attempt any climb for this?

Indeed, many people tried. In fact, China sent many people, on a mission to conquer the peak of this mountain. But what happened was scary.

China made several attempts to conquer the peak but always failed. In the end, they had to ban the climb of this sacred mountain declaring that the climb of this mountain would remain closed forever to keep the purity of this mountain alive.

It is said that the Chinese government between 1990 and 1996, made several attempts to conquer the peak of Mount Kailash to know the mystery of this mountain.

1st Attempt: China made its first attempt to send 17 scientists to the peak of the mountain. This mission included Japanese scientists as well.

These scientists were given enough supplies, food, and tents, and were sent off for the mission.
When the team of scientists didn’t return in the given days, the rescue team was sent off to find them. They found out that all of the 17 scientists had died.

People believed that they died because of weakness and bad weather. But the real reason is still unknown.

2nd Attempt: Due to the ever-changing weather conditions, flying over Mount Kailash was restricted.

According to reports from Chinese media, during an attempt to land a helicopter on Kailash Parvat, initial observations described the breathtaking beauty of the snow-covered mountain.

However, as they approached closer, the weather took a turn for the worse. The helicopter’s engine began to decelerate, ominous black clouds gathered in the sky lightning strikes along with heavy snowfall became more frequent.

It felt as though an unseen force or energy was attempting to impede their progress.

Their compass failed to indicate the correct direction, and their helicopter began sounding a warning alarm.

Realizing that their helicopter was unable to proceed and any further attempts would risk a crash, they promptly turned the chopper back towards base.

The Last Attempt: This time, they made the attempt by sending the world’s most skilled mountaineers, well-equipped for their journey to conquer the mountain’s summit.

For an entire week, the government was unable to establish communication with these mountaineers, prompting the dispatch of a rescue team.

Upon discovery, the mountaineers were indeed alive, but their physical condition was really weak. Their eyes had sunken, their nails had noticeably lengthened, and their hair had turned white. It appeared as though they had experienced a form of time distortion, feeling as if they had been absent for a month rather than just eight days.

As a result of these events, in 2001, the government found it necessary to impose a ban on any further attempts to climb this mountain.

The Ones Who Conquered This Peak In History

YUDHISHTIRA

According to Hindu scriptures, it is believed that only those who have lived a virtuous life, free from wrongdoing, are able to ascend the mountain and reach ‘swarga’ (heaven). In the epic Mahabharata, it is said that Yudhishthira, one of the five Pandava brothers, managed to reach the summit of the heavenly mountain when his brothers and Draupadi perished along the way.

MILAREPA

A Tibetan Buddhist monk made it to the very top of the mountain. He said that while climbing up, he felt a strange and different kind of energy all around him.

As he got close to the top, he saw many people he had never seen before.

When he came back down from the mountain, he didn’t talk much to anyone, and he seemed like a different person.

The one thing he did say that people still remember is, “I met with someone.”

The secrets of this mountain are still hidden, and we don’t know when we’ll be able to unravel its mysteries. But it’s clear that this place doesn’t seem to welcome humans to explore it.

A Russian Doctor named ‘Ernst Muldashev’ has mentioned Mount Kailash in his book ‘Where Do We Come From?’, that Mount Kailash, has some different energy on its top, that cannot be seen by anyone.

Ernst Muldashev

He also mentioned that Mount Kailash, not only has something on top, but some different energy at the bottom of the mountain as well!
