Since my childhood, I have loved watching horror movies because I have always been fascinated by spirits and ghost stories.

Even though I’m the most scared person in my family, I still watch most of the horror movies that come our way. I actually break into a sweat, and my heart rate goes through the roof while watching a horror movie, but I still love watching these movies.

The most important aspect of a movie for me is the story. Ghosts don’t scare me unless the story is compelling. I’ve watched more than 70 horror movies, or probably even more than that, though I’ve never actually counted.

Today, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite horror movies with you, and I guarantee they’ll give you a good scare if you decide to watch them!

7. Conjuring

The Conjuring (2013)

In this gripping film, two paranormal experts, Ed and Lorraine Warren, receive a distress call to confront a malevolent demonic entity plaguing a family’s home.

Throughout the course of the movie, they encounter harrowing challenges and willingly put their lives on the line in their quest to vanquish this terrifying presence.

What sets this movie apart as a true blockbuster isn’t solely its captivating storyline but also the undeniable fact that it’s based on a real-life account. Ed and Lorraine Warren were genuine paranormal investigators, and their remarkable 1974 case involving the Perron Family serves as the foundation for the chilling events depicted in “The Conjuring.”

This connection to actual events adds an extra layer of fear and fascination for viewers, making “The Conjuring” a truly spine-tingling experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

6. The Ring

The Ring (2002)

This movie is truly horrifying due to its unique storyline and genuinely terrifying ghosts. The film’s concept sets it apart and gives it a distinctive edge.

In this movie, a journalist embarks on an investigation involving a mysterious videotape, which proves fatal to anyone who dares to watch it. In this chilling tale, those who view the tape meet their demise within a week.

This innovative concept adds a layer of distinctiveness to the film, making it stand out in the horror genre and delivering a truly spine-tingling experience.

5. 1920

1920 (2008)

A man named Arjun, driven by love, leaves his religion and moves to a new place with his beloved.

However, the mansion they move into becomes a deadly place, casting a dark cloud over their lives for an extended period.

His beloved, Lisa, becomes possessed by a spirit, and the only way for Arjun to help her escape this situation is with the intervention of a higher power, which leads him back to his faith.

But it wasn’t as simple as it may sound.

To truly understand how Lisa fell victim to such a powerful spirit and the sacrifices Arjun made to rescue his wife, you’ll have to watch the movie and follow their gripping story.

4. The Medium

The Medium (2021)

Nim’s niece is possessed by a certain spirit. Nim’s sister Noi initially completely denies help from Nim, who is actually a religious person and could have assisted her nephew.

However, Noi refuses to get help from her sister.

After some time, when the situation worsens and becomes entirely beyond Noi’s control, she has no choice but to turn to her sister Nim for help.

Was it too late? I cannot even describe how much horror this movie contains. Some parts of the movie are so intense that you may find them difficult to watch.

The spirit in this movie is exceptionally strong, and the film is presented in a documentary-style perspective.

3. Smile

Smile (2022)

Imagine you’re walking down the road, day or night, and you spot someone in a distant crowd looking at you, wearing a wide smile. It’s undeniably creepy, right?

It gets even creepier if it happens at night, and downright unsettling if it occurs in your own home during the nighttime. The true terror sets in when you realize you’re alone in the house, yet there’s someone standing in your kitchen, grinning widely. That’s a situation that can turn fatal, I suppose.

This movie captures that eerie essence. I can’t believe how gripping the story is; it gave me goosebumps throughout.

In this film, the protagonist is a doctor and she witnesses a suicide with a smile on the victim’s face, which seemingly casts a curse on her, leading her into a world of horror. The victim, before her tragic end, appeared to be a normal person but was plagued by the constant presence of a smiling figure since witnessing a suicide by as well.

Following that woman’s suicide, the protagonist’s life spirals into chaos as she begins to witness the same chilling apparitions. To uncover the rest of the story, you’ll have to watch the movie yourself!

2. Insidious Chapter 2

Insidious Chapter 2

This movie is my favorite one so far.

Go to the #1 to see about this movie, because it’s 1st part is on #1.

1. Insidious Chapter 1

Insidious Chapter 1

This movie has secured its place at the top for me, and it’s going to stay there forever, no doubt about it.

What’s truly remarkable about this film is its presentation. Instead of relying on showing ghosts, they focus on building tension and delivering jump scares. This unique approach makes the movie an exceptional piece of cinema.

Even when you think something will happen, it is always different and you won’t be able to guess where the jumpscares will be.

Dalton falls asleep and finds himself in a place called ‘The Further,’ which is actually another dimension filled with spirits. It’s a realm where people like us aren’t welcome. He becomes a traveler in this strange world, just like his father did when he was a child.

You’ll be captivated by the way the story unfolds. I’m sure that if you watch this movie in silence and pay close attention, you’ll absolutely love it!

So, these are some movie suggestions that I think you will love. I have many more movie suggestions that I will be sharing with you in the future.

This is part 1, and soon I will share another part with you!

Thank you for reading :)
